The Inspiration:
This painting was inspired by a cover of a DVD for a teaching on 2 Chron. 7:14, titled, “If my People”. I took the idea, which was an ear, and used that as the focus of the picture with the verse 2 Chronicles 7:14 as the theme verse, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land” . There are a lot of intricate details going on this picture! The earth has a crown of thorns encircling it, with the verse Isaiah 53:5 intwined in it, and it overshadows the continent where Israel is located. There is the faint outline of a lamb over Israel, with the land of Israel in red and centered at the lamb’s heart. There are sound waves traveling from Israel to the ear, and there is a crowd of people who are praying above the earth, symbolizing the Lord’s people uniting together in prayer. The hands reaching down are the hands of Yeshua extending down from heaven and healing them. This was the third prophetic picture I did and I had a theme going of having a lion and lamb in each one, so I decided to continue with that and placed a roaring lion at the front of the theme verse. There is also a pair of crucifixion nails in the lower right hand corner, and several elements from the tabernacle, like the lamp stand and the golden altar. I remembered listening to a teaching where they said that the different items in the tabernacle ministered to all of our five senses, and since I had an ear and a pair of hands in the picture, I thought it might be neat to include all of the five senses as well. I added an eye(sight) in the water on the globe, a pomegranate(taste) in the upper left corner, and the altar on the bottom of the picture represents smell, as the offering was to be a pleasing aroma. The ear obviously represents the hearing and the hands touch. And of course, there are Scriptures in Hebrew written on or around each part in the picture. It is difficult to say which part was my favorite to color as it all was so fun! I used Rembrandt soft pastels for the medium. It took me a year to complete. I finished in the fall of 2021.
